Caught Riding Dirty

Yesterday I got my first ticket for running a red light. I need some advice on what to do to get out of paying my debt to society. Are there any good one-liners I can give the judge that might convince him to let me off, or to reduce the penalty?
All I got so far is "thank goodness no one was hurt, and I learned my lesson." Either that or "I had to get home before Judge Judy started."

You ran a red light, therefore, you should be punished. That's a very dangerous thing to do!

does your area have community service, where you can spend some "quality" time doing whatever you get assigned by the court, then if you stay out of trouble for a year the ticket doesn't go on your record? Of course, you may not have any quality time to spare, which makes it more difficult...anyway, glad nobody got hurt--get Katy to tell you about what happens if a bus is coming when you run a light!

I run red lights all the time I don't think it's that dangerous. Hah. :) Well it can be obviously, but some lights are very poorly coordinated and leave you waiting for minutes when there's no traffic. Waiting for them gets pretty ridiculous. And that's what you should tell the judge...jk.

Also, I was driving in Mexico recently, and they have additional warning before a red light by having the green light blink before the yellow light (if I remember right). Also, here in Tucson the left turn green arrow comes after the regular green light instead of before it, which I'd never seen before. Kind of interesting, I haven't decided if I like it better but I think it makes more sense.
